Our Craft
Seven steps, from conversation to delivery.
Every R&K piece passes through the same quiet stages. None is rushed; none is skipped. This is how a drawing becomes an heirloom.
- 01
Discover
We begin by listening. In a conversation we learn about your space, your rituals, and the life the piece will lead. No drawings yet — only questions and attention.
- 02
Define
Together we fix the essential: the wood, the size, the function, the feeling. From this a brief emerges — a single page that every later decision is measured against.
- 03
Design
Remy and the workshop translate the brief into drawings and, where it helps, a scale model. We choose the lumber for the grain that suits the form, not merely for the species.
- 04
Review
Before a saw touches wood we walk you through the joinery, the finish, and the timeline. Nothing is built until you have said yes to every line.
- 05
Build
The piece is cut and joined by hand in the shop. Dovetails, mortises, drawbore pegs — the same joints that have held for centuries, made one at a time.
- 06
Finish
We scrape and plane rather than sand, then hand-rub the finish in thin coats. The wood is allowed to deepen in its own time, so the surface lives rather than shines.
- 07
Deliver
The finished piece is delivered and, where it belongs, installed. We leave it with you and a record of how it was made — and the conversation continues for as long as you own it.
Before & After
From the bench to the table.
The same piece in two states — the table as it leaves the workshop, and as it lives once it is set.

The finished table, ready for its room.

Set for a gathering, in its place.
Let's begin with Discover.
Tell Remy what you have in mind, and we'll take it from the first conversation onward.
